Community Involvement

Individually, our financial representatives have been active for years in their places of worship, their childrens' schools, and in a variety of local organizations ranging from sports to environmental to health organizations.

We are proud that our financial representatives are active all over the Peninsula.  They give of their time, energy and money to support the organizations that they care about.

Below you will find a brief description of a few charities our reps and associates are currently participating in:

  • Leading the region in children’s healthcare services, CHKD is committed to delivering excellence in quality and service as we continually measure and improve our outcomes. We will evolve and enhance our services in response to the needs of children and the advancement of science; educate the next generation of leaders in children’s health; be the healthcare employer of choice; and collaborate with others to attain our vision.

Our team had the exciting opportunity to sponsor the 94.9 CHKD Radiothon on November 18th. CHKD is an organization very close to the hearts of some of our team members, and the rest of us have been very eager to help. As you can see in the pictures, our team members were busy answering the phones and collecting donations to help the children’s hospital. We helped raise $19,000! We had such a great time together outside of the office and we are very thankful to have had the opportunity to take part in such a good cause!

  • Literacy for Life provides valuable services to the greater Williamsburg community in so many meaningful ways. It is the only organization in the area that provides individualized, one-to-one and small group tutoring for adults in reading, writing and math skills as well as instruction in English for speakers of other languages.

  • The Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to help children reach their potential through one-to-one relationships with mentors that have a measurable impact on youth.

The Williamsburg office was one of the 72 Northwestern Mutual offices that held an event/ raised funds for ASLF. Over $775,000 was raised during Race for Research, and over $360,000 was donated to childhood cancer family support organizations. In 2016, there was $995,174 given in field donations; 60,052 research hours funded; and $4,005,420 total Childhood Cancer Program donations. Adding these numbers to prior years results in a total of $3,173,301 in field donations; 158,306 research hours funded; and $13,906,352 total Childhood Cancer Program donations. We are so proud to have been a part of making this possible.

Northwestern Mutual was proud to be a sponsor for the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation’s “Above & Beyond Gala” at the John Marshall Hotel. An estimated $200,000 was raised to provide outstanding support for these fantastic, inspiring families that are overcoming childhood cancer!

We’re so proud of our Director of Recruiting & Development, Tori Ford, who performed a stellar array of dances in the “Dancing with the Williamsburg Stars” event to benefit Literacy for Life and Big Brothers / Big Sisters!
